Exciting news for Pune! The Sadhu Vaswani flyover project is finally moving forward as slum relocation begins, easing traffic woes.
The flyover has been around for over 50 years. Sadly, it’s in bad shape now. The city really needs this new bridge to ease traffic.
The Pune Municipal Corporation had plans to replace the old bridge. But they faced delays because of the slum residents living nearby.
Now, the demolition can finally begin. The first step was clearing structures on the Koregaon Park side. But the slum with 121 units was holding things up.
With the relocation starting, things are looking up. The residents will move to new homes in Shinde Vasti, Hadapsar. This is a huge win for everyone involved.
The slum dwellers will start moving soon, and they already have new electricity meters in their new homes. This means the rest of the demolition can happen without any more delays.
The project is expected to cost around Rs. 83 crore. The construction will happen in stages. The chief engineer, Yuvraj Deshmukh, is optimistic. He said they’ve cleared the major hurdles and will start work next week.
