Pune Police are stepping up efforts to enhance women’s safety in IT and BPO companies with new guidelines and regular inspections
Every company is now required to set up an internal safety committee. This group will include administrative staff, female employees, and security personnel to tackle any safety issues that arise.
For companies with a lot of women on staff, the police will conduct regular security audits. This way, they can check if safety measures are up to par. Plus, they’re creating a social media group that includes police officers and company reps for quick communication.
Surprise inspections will also be part of the plan. Police will check entry points, dark areas, and parking lots to ensure everything is safe.
Companies need to work closely with security heads and police to keep communication flowing smoothly. Those with a large female workforce will be inspected by crime branch teams. The police will also distribute “My Safe Pune” posters and QR codes for emergencies, along with regular patrols around company premises.
CCTV cameras are another focus. Police will check the cameras that companies have installed and require more in critical areas like entrances and exits.
When it comes to transport, companies must ensure drivers are properly vetted and that GPS tracking is in place for all vehicles used to transport female employees.
Lastly, regular feedback sessions will be held to hear from female employees about their concerns. Companies must also set up a grievance redressal committee to handle any harassment complaints.
With these measures, Pune Police are working hard to create a safer work environment for women in the IT sector.
