Madhuri Misal is pushing for a new metro station to speed up the Katraj-Swargate project, aiming for quicker execution and better public transport.
Originally, there were only three stations planned, but now they’re looking to add more. The Pune Municipal Corporation is on board with this idea, which is great news. Misal mentioned that the tender process should wrap up by March, and they’re aiming to start construction soon after.
She also talked about two other metro corridors that might get the green light from the Central government. It sounds like they’re really trying to tackle Pune’s traffic issues head-on. Misal emphasized that getting the metro project moving is a big part of that plan.
When it comes to the bus system, she acknowledged that the BRTS has had its ups and downs in Pune. The bus fleet isn’t quite where it needs to be, but they’re planning to add 1,000 new buses soon. Plus, there’s talk about reconnecting the Swargate bus stand with the metro station, which would be super convenient for everyone.
Overall, it seems like there’s a lot of positive momentum for public transport in Pune, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
