Pune: The traffic branch is looking to build flyovers at Golibar Maidan and Katraj-Pisoli junction. This is to tackle the constant traffic jams we see here.

Manoj Patil, the additional commissioner of police, checked out these busy spots recently. He mentioned that the flyovers could really help residents from Camp, Kondhwa, NIBM, Swargate, and Hadapsar.

These areas often get jammed, especially at Golibar Maidan. A flyover at Pisoli would also help ease traffic for Undri and nearby neighborhoods.

Patil noted that over two lakh vehicles pass through these junctions daily. So, these flyovers could make a big difference.

Interestingly, back in 2005, the Pune Cantonment Board had a similar idea. They wanted to build a flyover at Golibar Maidan Chowk to ease the heavy traffic.

However, that proposal got lost over time and never moved forward. The Golibar Maidan area connects major roads, making it a crucial spot.

With so many vehicles, it often turns into a bottleneck, especially during rush hours. A flyover could really help traffic flow better and cut down travel time.

Vinod Mathurwala, a former PCB member, said the idea of a flyover is gaining traction. He believes it’s essential for the safety and convenience of residents. Everyone seems to be on board with this plan!
