In a groundbreaking event, Pimpri-Chinchwad hosted a wedding for transgender couples, celebrating love and acceptance in the community.
Many of these couples had been together for years but struggled with legal and social barriers. This wedding was a big step in recognizing their love and commitment to each other.
Shivanya Shinde shared how this day meant everything to her. She said, “I was born a boy, but I always wanted to live as a woman. Through this wedding, I have gained the right to live my life as I truly am.” You could feel her joy radiating.
Rohini Tayade, who has been with Dheeraj Sonawane for five years, echoed similar feelings. “I never imagined such a ceremony could be organized for members of the transgender community. Today, I feel complete,” she expressed, clearly moved by the occasion.
While some families have been supportive, societal acceptance is still a hurdle for many. Santosh Chavan, who runs a paan shop, was thrilled about his family’s acceptance of his relationship with Madhuri Vairage. “I just hope society embraces us as well,” he said, reflecting the hope many share.
The event was graced by social activists and politicians, including Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap. He called the wedding a historic milestone, saying, “This ceremony will be remembered as a defining moment for Pimpri-Chinchwad.”
This event not only celebrated love but also opened doors for greater recognition and acceptance of transgender rights in India. It was a day to remember, filled with love, hope, and a vision for a more inclusive future.
