The Pune International Centre has officially moved to its new eco-friendly campus in Pashan, enhancing its role in policy-making and research.
The new campus is pretty impressive. It has an auditorium, an art gallery, and special research centers focusing on things like national security and social innovation. Plus, there’s a main building, a research wing, and a convention hall for global events.
PIC started back in 2011, thanks to Dr. Vijay Kelkar, and it’s become a key spot for sharing knowledge and developing policies. At the opening, Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar, the president, called it a “melting pot for ideas.” He really highlighted Pune’s rich history in culture and intellect.
Dr. Kelkar, the vice president, mentioned how important it is for PIC to stay independent from government influence. He said they wanted to show that Delhi isn’t the only place for such initiatives. Their research will be based on consensus and knowledge.
He also pointed out their commitment to sustainable development and making Pune carbon neutral. They plan to take their research to a national level. Dr. Ravi Pandit, the treasurer, talked about their goal of achieving excellence through objective, fact-based research.
The event wrapped up with a thank you from Maj. Gen. Nitin Gadkari. It’s an exciting time for PIC and Pune!
