Pune’s police commissionerate is relocating to Shivajinagar as a new building is set to be built, enhancing facilities for the growing city.
The current building near Pune station is set to be demolished. In its place, a six-storey facility will rise, complete with solar power and water recycling systems. Sounds fancy, right? The state government has put aside ₹180 crore for this project, which is a significant investment.
AH Chavriya, the additional commissioner of police, mentioned that senior officials have already checked out the site. They’re planning to kick off construction soon, and the move will happen in phases to keep everything running smoothly.
Key offices, including the police commissioner’s and the control room, will temporarily shift to the new headquarters in Shivajinagar. While the final design and timeline are still being worked out, it looks like the new building will take about two years to finish. Exciting times ahead for Pune’s police force!
