Pune is ramping up health checks after 24 suspected GBS cases emerged, with an expert team now on the ground to investigate.
Right now, these 24 patients are being treated in private hospitals. The ages of these patients range from just 2 years old to 61. Interestingly, only one of them has traveled recently to Karnataka. The majority are from rural areas, with a few from the city limits and nearby towns.
Dr. Vaishali Jadhav, the assistant health chief, mentioned that five teams are out there monitoring key areas like Bajirao Road and Shivteerth Nagar. They’re busy collecting data on food and water samples, plus travel histories. So far, no new cases have been reported, which is a relief.
An expert team led by Dr. Babasaheb Tandale from the National Institute of Virology is also involved. They’re looking into both environmental and clinical factors to figure out what’s causing these cases and how to stop more from happening.
The surveillance and investigations will keep going strong to ensure everyone’s safety in Pune.
