Pune Residents Alert: First GBS Death Reported, Dhayari Youth Succumbs in Solapur

Pune: A young man from Dhayari, Pune, has sadly passed away due to Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). He was diagnosed just days before his death. Initially, he was treated in a private hospital in Pune but had to be moved to Solapur when his health took a turn for the worse.

Even though he showed some improvement in the ICU, he ultimately succumbed to respiratory issues shortly after being discharged. This incident has raised alarms in the community about the rising GBS cases.

In response to this tragic event, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar held an emergency meeting with local officials. They discussed the increasing number of GBS cases and announced that treatments are now available at two major hospitals in Pune. They’re also testing water samples to find any possible contamination sources linked to the outbreak.

To help those affected, Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale has rolled out some important measures. Patients at Kamala Nehru Hospital will receive free treatment, and those in private hospitals can get financial aid of up to ₹2 lakh under the “Urban Poor Scheme.” Plus, essential immunoglobulin injections will be provided at no cost in both private and government hospitals.

With GBS cases on the rise, residents are being urged to stay alert, maintain good hygiene, and report any symptoms to healthcare providers. Let’s hope the authorities can manage this situation effectively and keep everyone safe. Stay tuned for more updates as they come in.
