Maharashtra’s new highway project is on the Cabinet’s agenda, aiming to ease traffic and boost connectivity around Pune.
Brijesh Dixit, who’s been pushing for this, mentioned that they need some tax exemptions to make it work financially. They sent a draft to the Cabinet on January 1, hoping for quick approval. If they get the green light, they can start acquiring land and moving forward with the project.
This new 53-km highway will link NH-48, which is the Mumbai-Pune Highway, to NH-753, the Pune-Sambhajinagar Highway. It’s designed to cut down on the traffic jams that plague Pune. The plan is to upgrade the current two-lane road to a four-lane elevated highway, complete with flyovers at busy spots.
MLA Shelke is on it, making sure Deputy CM Ajit Pawar pushes for a speedy approval. There were some worries about immediate traffic fixes, but Dixit reassured everyone that the National Highway Authority of India is on the case, and solutions will come after the Cabinet gives the nod.
The Highway Action Committee, led by Nitin Gade, is really happy with what MSIDC is doing. This highway is expected to make life a lot easier for commuters in Pune, improving travel and connectivity all around.
