Pune: Minister of State for Urban Development, Madhuri Misal, has some exciting news. She’s suggesting a new metro station on the Katraj-Swargate route. This could really help with the city’s traffic issues.

In a recent meeting, she talked about speeding up the underground metro work for this corridor. Plus, there are plans for two more metro corridors that might get the green light from the Central government soon.

Misal reviewed the progress of the Pune Metro and mentioned that they’re looking to add two more stations—one at Sahakarnagar-Bibvewadi and another at Balajinagar. She’s hopeful these will be approved soon.

Originally, the Katraj-Swargate corridor was set to have just three stations. But now, with the support of the Pune Municipal Corporation, they’re considering adding Balajinagar too.

She also shared that the tender process for this corridor should wrap up by March. Once that’s done, they’ll start the actual work within two months.

Misal emphasized the need for those extra stations and has asked officials to look into their feasibility. The meeting included key figures from Pune Metro, all focused on making this project happen.

She’s really committed to tackling Pune’s traffic problems. Expediting the metro project is a big part of that, along with improving the bus transport system.

Additionally, she mentioned plans to reconnect the Swargate MSRTC bus stand with the Swargate Metro station. This integration was part of the original plan but got separated in the past. Misal is determined to make it happen since both departments fall under her responsibility.
