Pune is seeing a rise in suspected GBS cases, prompting health officials to investigate and ensure public safety in affected areas
The health department is on it, though. They sent a team to check things out in the areas affected. Most of the new cases are from Pune rural, with a couple from the city and one from nearby districts.
Dr. Babita Kamlapurkar and her crew visited Laigude Hospital to get a handle on the situation. They also checked out places like Nandegaon and Dhayreshwar Temple, which are key spots in the area.
Dr. Kamlapurkar mentioned that they’re starting a sanitary survey to clean up the water sources. They want to make sure everything is safe and that the water from tankers is regularly tested for any issues.
In a meeting with officials from the National Institute of Virology and other health departments, they discussed how to manage these suspected GBS cases better. They’re also planning to test water samples from housing societies to keep things in check.
Out of the 82 cases, six patients have been treated and sent home, which is good news. Right now, 76 patients are still in care, with some in the ICU and others in the ward. It’s a tough situation, but the health team is working hard to keep everyone safe.
