Pune Municipal Corporation is stepping up efforts to monitor private hospitals amid rising GBS cases and ensure fair treatment for patients
At a press conference, the municipal commissioner, Rajendra Bhosale, shared what they’re doing. They’ve set up a vigilance squad to keep an eye on private hospitals. The goal? Make sure patients aren’t being overcharged. They’ve even brought in four neurologists and are covering the costs for various tests for GBS patients. Plus, they’ve upgraded ICU wards to handle the situation better.
To keep things safe, the PMC is also checking drainage lines to prevent any contamination of drinking water. They found some leaks in 11 spots, but those have been fixed now. They’re paying special attention to the merged villages where cases have popped up. An awareness campaign is in full swing, urging folks to boil their water. They’re even sending treated water through tankers to those areas, making sure everything is safe.
On top of that, they’re boosting medical facilities by adding more oxygen beds and ventilators. They’re also doing door-to-door surveys in the merged areas to spot any health issues. The PMC is following all the guidelines from the central and state governments to keep the outbreak in check and support those affected while looking for long-term solutions. It’s a big effort to make sure everyone stays safe and healthy.
