In a shocking incident, seven individuals were arrested for attacking a college student right outside his campus in Pune
Pune: On Thursday, a 19-year-old engineering student named Vishwajeet was attacked right outside Trinity College. The police caught seven guys involved in the incident.
These guys, all students or dropouts from the college, were taken into custody for three days. They were identified as Bhavesh, Atharv, Suraj, Iryan, Saurabh, Raj, and Varun, hailing from different areas around Pune.
It all started with some heated words exchanged between two groups of students while playing cricket. Kunjir, one of the accused, lured Vishwajeet out of the college and then they all jumped him with weapons and iron rods.
The deputy commissioner of police mentioned that this attack was meant to instill fear in the area. There was a similar incident reported recently involving college students and locals, which raised concerns.
To tackle this, the college plans to hold counseling sessions for parents to curb such behavior. The police also seized four weapons and five motorcycles from the accused, totaling around ₹3.80 lakh.
Charges have been filed against them under various sections of the law, and they were even paraded around the college to show the seriousness of their actions.
