Beed: So, Walmik Karad just got hit with a 14-day judicial custody order from the MCOCA court. This follows his time in CID-SIT custody, which lasted a total of 21 days. He’s been in the spotlight due to a serious ₹2 crore extortion case linked to Avaada Wind Energy.

The court was told that the investigation is wrapped up, and that’s when they decided to send him to judicial remand. Karad appeared via video link, and before that, he had a medical check-up. His lawyer mentioned he’s been feeling under the weather with a cold and cough.

Karad had been on the run since the shocking murder of Sarpanch Deshmukh back in December. He turned himself in at the Pune CID headquarters just before the new year. Deshmukh’s family has been vocal, claiming Karad was the mastermind behind the murder and should face serious charges.

Deshmukh’s brother made it clear that they don’t want any of the accused to get bail, as they believe they’ve created a climate of fear and are part of an organized crime group. The police said the court allowed Karad to use a CP machine for his sleep apnea while in custody, even though he’s been feeling sick.

The whole situation stems from the tragic murder of Santosh Deshmukh, who was reportedly killed because he stood in the way of an extortion scheme targeting a local energy company. Karad was in contact with the people who committed the crime, which is why he’s facing such serious charges.
