The state government has raised health coverage to ₹1.60 lakh for GBS patients, doubling the previous limit due to rising cases
So far, Pune has reported around 82 suspected cases of GBS. Many of these patients are facing serious complications, like pneumonia, and some are even on ventilators. The government realized that the previous coverage wasn’t enough, especially with the rising number of cases.
During a recent meeting, officials discussed the need to enhance the treatment package under the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. They decided that the coverage needed to be increased to better support these patients.
Annasaheb Chavan, who oversees the health schemes, mentioned that they’ve revised the package after consulting with medical officers. He emphasized that all necessary treatments for GBS should be covered, and if any additional treatments are needed, they should be communicated to the office for further adjustments. It’s a positive step for those affected, ensuring they get the care they need during this challenging time.
