Pune rural police have arrested a burglar linked to multiple robberies, recovering gold and silver worth ₹16 lakh during the operation.
He was picked up on January 24 while he was traveling on the Pune-Satara Road. The police had been tracking him after a string of break-ins, including four cases in Shripati Nagar, Bhor, where he made off with gold, silver, and cash worth over ₹26 lakh.
Thanks to some clever detective work, they analyzed CCTV footage and figured out he was lurking around the area just hours before the break-ins. When they got a tip-off about him heading to Pune, they set up a trap and nabbed him in Sasewadi.
They found a stash of 8.5 tola of gold jewelry, 2 kg of silver, cash, and even a car, all totaling around ₹16.58 lakh. It turns out he’s part of a bigger gang that’s been hitting homes in various cities, mainly targeting gold.
This isn’t his first rodeo either; he’s got a record and has been involved in over 50 burglary cases across Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. He even did time for one of them in Karnataka. A retired senior citizen, Madhav Purohit, filed a complaint, and now the police are on it.
