A complaint regarding the incident has been filed by Ramesh Laxman Sakpal, 57, a senior clerk at the office. According to police reports, Kamble had joined as an agriculture assistant on March 26, 2013. Within six months, his services were terminated because he failed to submit a caste validity certificate. After later submitting the required document, he was reinstated and even promoted. However, from June 2016 onward, Kamble allegedly began remaining absent without notice, leading to suspension of his salary and allowances, which reportedly fueled his resentment toward the administration.
On the day of the attack, Kamble first spoke privately with an employee, Vishal Shinde, and then proceeded to the chamber of the District Superintendent Agriculture Officer. When informed by assistant officer Yogesh Gadpayale that the superintendent was on a tour, Kamble became furious. He verbally abused the staff, entered the chamber, and smashed computers and other office equipment.
When employees, including Ramesh Sakpal, tried to restrain him, Kamble brandished the sickle he had brought and threatened, “No one will work in this office; if anyone does, I will kill them.” The frightened staff immediately called the emergency number 112. Police from Alankar Police Station promptly arrived, took the accused into custody, and seized the sickle.
The incident has left office employees shaken and raised serious concerns about workplace safety in government offices. Authorities have stated that strict measures will be taken to prevent such violent incidents in the future and ensure that employees can perform their duties without fear.
