One person has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Liberty Village, Toronto police said in a news release Monday.

The 37-year-old Toronto man was arrested on Sunday and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 32-year-old Marcel Cardiff, police said.

The accused was scheduled to make a court appearance Monday morning.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing just before 8 p.m. Friday at Joe Shuster Way and King Street West.

Cardiff, the victim, was transported to hospital but was later pronounced dead, police said. His death was the 42nd homicide in Toronto this year.
