A person is dead after a vehicle crashed into a building in Toronto, said police. 

Officers responded around 2:28 p.m. near Dufferin Street and Finch Avenue W. to “reports of a vehicle into a building,” said Toronto police on social media.

They said a pedestrian was struck and trapped in the collision and first responders were working to extract the man. 

Toronto paramedics told CBC News one person was pronounced dead at the scene, but did not provide details on whether the individual was in the vehicle or a pedestrian. 

Paramedics said they assessed four other individuals, two of whom were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
