The sudden turn of events has added a fresh twist to Pimpri Chinchwad’s political landscape. While talks between the two NCP factions were gaining momentum, reports have now emerged suggesting the possibility of an alliance between the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction and the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Just two days ago, local leaders of the Shiv Sena and BJP had announced that both parties would contest the municipal elections together. However, within hours of that announcement, indications surfaced that Shiv Sena was also exploring an understanding with the Ajit Pawar-led NCP. Shiv Sena deputy leader Irfan Sayyed confirmed that discussions are underway at the local level and that seat-sharing talks have progressed positively, with an official announcement expected soon.
Meanwhile, sources revealed that the alliance between the two NCP factions in Pune collapsed primarily over the issue of the party symbol. While consensus had reportedly been reached on seat-sharing, Ajit Pawar insisted that the elections be contested on the traditional ‘clock’ symbol of the NCP, a stance on which he remained firm. This disagreement ultimately led to the breakdown of talks, first in Pune and now in Pimpri Chinchwad as well.
