Pune: Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, the State Water Resources Minister, recently had a meeting about water supply issues. He’s really pushing for better water management in Pune.

He called out the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for wanting more water without considering what’s already available. Vikhe Patil said that no extra water will be given unless they treat sewage properly first.

He pointed out that many new housing projects are asking for more water, which is actually meant for farming. He believes local authorities should focus on reusing and retreating water instead.

Vikhe Patil made it clear that the PMC needs to follow the rules. They can’t just keep asking for more water from the irrigation department. He wants them to clean up sewage before they can ask for additional supplies.

During the meeting, they also talked about connecting rivers in Maharashtra and dealing with encroachments around dams. Vikhe Patil stressed the need for strict action against these encroachments to protect water sources.
