Pune: The new Support Desk for crime victims was recently inaugurated at the District and Sessions Court in Shivajinagar. It’s a big deal for those who’ve faced tough times.

Judge Mahendra K. Mahajan and DLSA Secretary Sonal S. Patil were there, sharing inspiring words. They talked about how important it is to help victims not just legally but also to help them get back on their feet in society.

Sonal Patil mentioned the Manodhairya Scheme, which started in 2018. This program offers counseling, protection, and financial help to victims. It’s all about making sure they can heal and move forward.

She shared some impressive stats too. In 2023, out of 248 applications, 209 were resolved successfully. And in 2024, 338 out of 402 applications were sorted out. That’s a lot of lives positively impacted!

There were also some heartbreaking cases highlighted. For instance, two young sisters were victims of a horrific crime, and the DLSA stepped in to provide significant financial support to their family.

The Support Desk is a vital step towards justice and care for victims. Both Judge Mahajan and Sonal Patil are committed to making sure this initiative continues to grow and help those in need.

If you or someone you know needs help, the Support Desk and the Manodhairya Scheme are there for you. You can reach out to DLSA Pune at the District and Sessions Court in Shivajinagar. They’re ready to assist!
