Shiv Sena (UBT) protests the recent MSRTC fare hike, raising concerns over rising travel costs for commuters in Pune.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) took to the streets on Tuesday, gathering at the Swargate Bus Stand to voice their frustration. They’re not just upset for themselves; they’re worried about how this hike is hitting everyone’s wallets, especially on popular routes like Konkan to Pune and Borivali.
For instance, if you used to pay ₹540 to travel to Pune, now it’s ₹624. That’s a pretty big jump! And the Ratnagiri-Borivali route isn’t any better, going from ₹550 to ₹634. It’s no wonder the protesters decided to stop some buses to make their point.
Sachin Bhosale, a leader from Shiv Sena (UBT), explained that their protest isn’t meant to disrupt services or inconvenience passengers. They just want the authorities to pay attention to this fare hike. He pointed out that if MSRTC is making a profit, then why raise fares?
The group also criticized the state government, saying they’re taking advantage of everyday people. They mentioned how the ruling coalition is rolling out schemes like the “Ladki Bahini Yojana” to support women financially, yet at the same time, they’re increasing travel costs. It’s a tough spot for many commuters in Pune.
