As exam season approaches, students in Pune are increasingly reaching out for support
Experts say it’s crucial for students to manage their time well, take breaks, and talk about their feelings. Parents and teachers also play a big role in creating a supportive environment. Dr. Prasanna Phutane, a psychiatrist, pointed out that many students are facing issues like trouble concentrating and sleep problems.
Dr. Srinivas Kolod from the Regional Mental Hospital reminded everyone that they’re not alone in this. The helpline is available 24/7 for anyone who needs to chat with a mental health professional. He encouraged students to stay calm and believe in themselves, emphasizing that exams are just one part of their journey.
Since launching in October 2022, Tele-MANAS has received over 121,000 calls, with a notable percentage coming from teens. This highlights the need for mental health support during stressful times like exams. The helpline has centers in Pune, Nagpur, Thane, and Ambejogai, making it accessible for many.
For students looking to ease their stress, here are some tips: create a study schedule, practice mindfulness, stay active, eat well, get enough sleep, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help when things get tough.
