Pune’s water sources are clear, but the PMC is now checking the distribution network for contamination
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is now shifting gears. They’re looking into the water distribution network to see if there’s any contamination there. It seems like a smart move, right?
They’ve been busy collecting water samples from various spots like Khadakwasla and Kothrud. The results came back clean, showing no harmful bacteria. That’s a big win for the city!
But with 82 suspected GBS cases reported since January, the PMC is taking this seriously. They’re checking everything, including the water distribution lines and even the tanks in residential areas.
Chlorine levels in the water are also being monitored. A little chlorine left over after treatment is a good sign—it means the water is still safe to drink.
The central ministry has sent a team to help out, and they’re on the ground collecting samples too. It’s all hands on deck to ensure the water supply remains safe.
Experts have also found a common bacteria, Campylobacter jejuni, in some samples linked to GBS. So, they’re keeping a close eye on that as well. It’s a lot to manage, but the city is on it!
