In Pune’s Ambavane Village, a former Sarpanch is accused of a massive ₹12 crore scam, prompting calls for an inquiry into the matter.
Deputy Sarpanch Nilesh Mengde and other Gram Panchayat members held a press conference to spill the beans. They claim Karale’s wife, who’s the current Sarpanch, is trying to hush things up.
Mengde pointed out that a bunch of projects worth around ₹10-12 crore from Karale’s time are under a cloud. They’re saying there were inflated costs and no proper tenders. Sounds shady, right?
One member, Sunil Hundare, even accused Karale of shaking down villagers for bribes to issue No Objection Certificates. He’s got a history too; the Anti-Corruption Bureau caught him in a bribery act before.
Then there’s Komal Phatak, who revealed that Karale was using events like film shoots to extort money from people. If they didn’t pay up, he’d threaten them.
Akshara Dalvi also chimed in, saying funds meant for community welfare were being funneled into Karale’s personal businesses. They were even using village resources for private projects.
Despite all these serious allegations, nothing much has been done against Karale. The Gram Panchayat members are really pushing for a special inquiry committee to get to the bottom of this and recover the lost funds.
This whole situation really highlights the issues of corruption in local governance. It’s frustrating to see those in charge misusing resources for their own benefit.
