The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on OBC reservation, delaying local body elections in Maharashtra until at least late February
Mumbai: So, the local body elections in Maharashtra are still on hold. The Supreme Court was supposed to hear the OBC reservation case on February 5, but they pushed it to February 25. It’s all because of the Delhi elections, which are taking up the court’s time.
Advocate Devdatt, who’s representing the municipal corporation, mentioned that the OBC reservation issue is still being debated. They’ve clarified some points, but the court needs to dig deeper into it. He said they’re ready for the hearing and it shouldn’t take long.
On the bright side, if everything goes well on February 25, we might see elections happening by April or May. Advocate Siddharth Shinde is hopeful that the court will act quickly, which would be great news for everyone waiting for these elections.
But for now, it’s a waiting game. The delay means that local body elections, including those for municipal corporations, are still up in the air. Citizens are just hanging tight, hoping for a resolution soon.
