A central team has landed in Pune to tackle the surge in GBS cases across Maharashtra, focusing on urgent health measures.
The Pune Municipal Corporation has already surveyed over 15,000 households. Meanwhile, Pimpri-Chinchwad and rural areas are also getting their share of attention.
Health teams are on the move, checking high-risk spots. They’re sending samples of sewage and blood to the National Institute of Virology. Early reports show infections tied to bacteria and viruses, which is concerning.
On top of that, water samples from around Pune are being tested for safety. The costs for treating GBS are hefty, averaging over ₹5 lakh per patient. Thankfully, the state’s health scheme helps cover some of these costs.
The Pune Municipal Corporation is also stepping in with extra financial support for those in need. As the state faces this health crisis, both central and state teams are working hard to help those affected.
